It has been a long week. Besides giving blood, I had two tests and advising. Then last night a friend of mine called me up and asked me to sub for him as an emcee for a Robotics competition today. I did not know what I was getting myself into when I said yes.
This was not for adults. This was Bulldog BEST for middle and high school students. I went early so I would know what to do, because I did not get a lot of information out of my friend Ernest. I ended up being there from 11:00am to 5:00pm and I emceed from 1:30 to 5:00. I did not have any water and I had to compete with loud music the entire time. Thank goodness I had mike! Even so, I was hoarse and coughing near the end.
These students made robots that could move large batteries (cans in this case) around like NASA Robots. They were so energetic and into it. If it hadn't been for that it would not have been worth it. A free meal and a T-Shirt just are not worth it.
I felt like they should have separated the high school and middle school student into two different competitions because the poor middle school students needed more time they did not score a point at all in the competition.
